WHERE HAVE I STAYED?

Pytloun Wellness Hotel (https://www.pytlounwellnesshotelharrachov.cz/cs/). This hotel is located slightly outside of Harrachov. It is situated with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside, (the photograph at the start of this entry is taken from the Pytloun Hotel), and close to trails that will take you through the woods to the Mumlava Falls, (a very popular place to visit throughout the year). The hotel is clean and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. One tip if visiting during the winter: the access to the car park is via a very steep incline. If there is heavy snow and ice, you may need changes on the car tyres to negotiate the incline although I am sure that the hotel does all that it can to keep access to the car park.

PERSONAL FEEDBACK

Harrachov is a town in the northern area of Czechia, Quite close to the Polish border. Harrachov houses the Čertova Hova ski area and Čerťák ski jump. The Hornické Museum has exhibits on ore mining, including a tunnel, machinery and photos. Novosad Glass Factory and Brewery offers a spa, with beer baths, and a museum displaying local handmade glass.

To the east of the town is the Krkonoše National Park, where it is possible to take long walks through the woods and trails of the park and is great for both hikers and bikers. In addition the Mumlava waterfalls should not be missed as the Mumlava river flows over the falls into deep pools. In addition there are also the Pančavský waterfalls and I recommend the circular walking trip which takes in both the Mumlava falls and the Pančavský falls - a distance of some 24kms.

I recommend the following website for you to read should you wish to undertake the walk: https://myczechwalks.com/krkonose-mumlava-pancavsky/.

In addition to the above, this is definitely a place to visit if you own a dog - especially a dog like mine that loves water!

PLACES TO EAT

There are so many good places to eat in Harrachov that it would take forever to list them all here. I would like to direct you to TripAdvisor on the following link (https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurants-g276239-Harrachov_Krkonose_National_Park_Bohemia.html), where you will be able to see the list of restaurants and cheaper dining places and make your choice from there. I have eaten in numerous places in Harrachov and the Krkonoše National Park area and can say that I have never had a bad meal. I have always selected local Czech dishes.

This area is busy all the year around and particularly in the winter following a fall of snow when many thousands of people arrive to ski the slopes. It is possible to walk to the Mumlava Falls in the winter and they are equally as lovely as in the summer although extreme caution must be taken as the paths and surrounding rocks in the area of the falls are extremely hazardous with ice and snow.
